Self-care and coping strategies are both essential for our mental well-being.
Self-care is a preventative and maintenance strategy that refers to the things we do regularly to stay healthy and take care of our well-being. Self-care is often planned and proactively integrated into our routine. The goal of self-care is to maintain a baseline level of good health and prevent the development or worsening of mental health issues.
Coping strategies are methods or techniques we use in response to stress, trauma, or mental health issues to manage symptoms and navigate challenging situations. They are typically reactive and are implemented when we are experiencing distress or discomfort.
There are a number of self-care and coping strategies that you can use to maintain your mental health or when you find yourself struggling.
